Jesus simply does not give up on people.
With full knowledge of the people who were assembled in the synagogue: “He entered again” (Mark 3:1)! I often wonder if Jesus had certain people with whom He preferred to hang-out?
What did He really think of those pharisees? Did He love them, or simply accommodate them? After all, He was “all knowing,” and they seemed to have an ax to grind (well, they wanted to run Him out of Galilee!).
And, what about the culturally needy? Was He ever tempted to “sigh” at another person seeking Him to heal and restore? Could He see the needy coming and then change direction to avoid them? Did He ever in His omniscience want to hold back extending love if He knew it would be met with ingratitude? Lots of questions.
The amazing things about His earthly ministry is that He seemingly kept on loving people. Oh, there were the few times that He let His emotion get the best of Him (Mark 3:5). However, He carried out His mission, and He kept loving people.
He loved the religiously rigid people, who were blinded by their own moral bankruptcy.
He loved the culturally unlovable, who were paralyzed by their own physical health.
Did He ever want to give up on people? How about you?
