Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day.
It’s a day when people want to go to church. A day when mothers desire their children to go to church. It is a joyous day for many, and a heart-wrenching day for many. My heart is saddened when I think of the many who will not attend services this Mother’s Day for personal issues of pain.
Here in Cleveland we are living in the shadows of the miracle tale of redemption and liberation of three young ladies. Taken into tragic captivity and held for way too many years. It’s a story that sheds light on how the mothers of two of the ladies never lost hope, and kept believing that one day they would see their daughters again.
This Sunday we are going to look at some aspects of a Mother’s love as we reflect on this day in our culture, and how our faith is impacted by it. We are going to see that a mother’s love is patient and kind. We are going to see how a mother’s love does not seek its own, rather puts others first. Finally, we are going to explore how a mother’s heart bears all, believes all, and hopes in all.
Sound familiar? Perhaps that exactly describes your mother.
Perhaps you thought about how that describes God’s love. This Mother’s day, no matter of one’s place in life: God has an amazing love for us…and He wants us to be embraced by it, and embrace others with it.
