God is not dead!

Jesus died.  

He did this as an act of obedience to the Heavenly Father.  He did this for you, for me, and for all people.  He was willing to give up His life that all people might have the hope of eternal life, and relationship with God the Father.  Theologically we understand this; however, in reading Mark’s gospel the pain of His passion comes to focus.

Jesus was overturning the religious system that the ancients Jews had known for centuries.  This was surely going to cause some pushback from the religious establishment of His day.  People do not like change, even if it is good change.  Jesus was not seeking minor changes; He was starting fresh.  He was creating something new!

It is interesting that people still do not want to embrace Jesus.  There are those today who still want to “kill” Him from culture.  In a sense, that is what Friedrich Nietzsche tried to convince his audience when he states, “God is dead.  God remains dead.”  Of course in more recent times, God has been “killed off” by the periodical Time in April 1966, when they asked that “Is God dead?”  No, God is not dead.  However, in small ways all around us, people are trying to convince themselves that God is dead.  They hide from their image-stamp, and try to block-out thoughts of God.

Yet, God sends reminders to them (Mark 12:1-12).  One after another.  God sends those who will speak for Him.  God wants to include you and me in this process.  He wants to send those who know Him to tell of the great mysterious of Salvation.  We are those who bear witness that God is not dead.  God is very much alive!
